ID Theft

We have a small rental property and an old tenant that just moved bounced a check due to ID theft.?

She notified us as soon as she found out her account was compromised and has documentation from her bank of the fraud. However, the notice to not deposit was received too late, in short - her check bounced. She is liable to pay the fee, and will, but is she liable for any other bank fees I may incur as a result of the bounce? (For example, if 3 of MY checks bounce as a result of her check being returned for NSF?)

  1. No she is not. It is your responsibility that you have verified funds in your account before you write checks against your account.
