- 'Identity Protection' can differ from company to company. The main feature of all 'Identity Protection' appears to be encryption. Basically, your sensitive data can be encrypted to thwart hackers and thieves from intercepting and stealing your details and info when sent over the net (such as credit card numbers, account details, login details, name, address, etc). Some expand on this and allow you to store that information in a 'safe spot' on your computer.
