Can changing my credit card number, with the same credit card company, give me some protection?
I have had the same credit card number for many years. I use it to automatically pay several bills, and to make purchases on the internet. They give a little cash for points and promise good protection. So I would like to keep the company but change the number. Someone at the bank tells me that if it makes me feel better change it. But that I would be no better protected.

- You would not be better protected, it would be the same. No need to change the number unless your card has been lost or stolen.
- Protect you against what? If you've had no problems, why change the account number?
- I disagree, I think that every few years it is smart to change the number on the same account, the credit card company will just issue you a new card, and you will have to change the number on your internet payments. My mother has done this a couple of times, it makes her feel safer, that someone has not learned her account number
