In order to remove an unauthorized credit protection plan from my credit card, the representative stated that?
she needed my mother's maiden name AND my city of birth. Is this information that is commonly asked for in order to make a change to a credit card account?

- They want proof they are talking to you--in the highly unlikely event you tried to collect on the cancelled policy.
- Yeah, its pretty common. Usually, I would get the "mother's maiden name" question as well as the last 4 as my social. I've never been asked for city of birth.
- Yes but only give it to them if you made the call to a number you know is a valid number for that company. Like the one on the back of the credit card. If they called you ask how to reach them again on the card number.
