Will a hit and run in parking lot raise my premiums?

I have a clean driving record, my car was hit in a parking lot and I don't know who did it. Damage is $2400. Prior to this, I was rear ended three separate times and my insurance company got reimbursed from guilty party's insurance company. Do you think my premiums will be raised? How can I find out without filing a claim or revealing to the company my identity?

  1. Yes, All claims on your insurance will raise your premium.
  2. I seriously doubt it will increase, but you need to let them know asap. That's part of the reason for a deductible and no-fault. Log on to your ins. website and see whats covered under their policies, they will never know its you.
  3. Typically insurance companies will only adjust your premium if you are found to be the at fault party in a collision. This waas not your fault, so you should expect no premium adjustments.
  4. Report the accident, and get your vehicle repaired. You were not at fault for this accident. Most insurance companies, do not automatically increase your premium just because you report an accident and use your coverage. That is why you have the coverage. You are paying good money for it. I too have been involved in several rearend accidents, and my rates have not gone up. In fact, each year that goes by without an incident that is not my fault, my rates have gone down. Further, depending on what state you live in, some insurance companies offer "first accident forgiveness", but this is usually if you are at fault for an accident. Somebody mentions "No-Fault". That has nothing to do with the damage to your vehicle. It is mandatory medical/wage coverage available only in some states.
