ID Theft

I am a victim of ID theft and I think it was my neigbor what should I do?

I found out this morning that I am 99% certain it was my neighbor who lives across the street from me. I received a call from a collection agency that stated I owed over $350 on an account I never opened. I kept comng across new info that was leading to her like all the mail is sent to her house her phone number is on file and she was watching my dogs while I was out of town during the time the card was opened. I am going to the police station to file a report tomorrow. I was thinking of going to the store where the account was opened and trying to get copies of previous bills. Do you think I will be able to do this?? Any advice is apprecieted

  1. one.. call the card company...two get copies of bills from the stores and ask them if they remember the person who made the purchase.. three...go to the police and tell them of your suspicions..four...DONT let someone else get your mail!!!
  2. well if it is under your name then they will give you the old bills, but i would really recommend letting the police deal with it, and have no contact with your neighbor what so ever. you may want to confront them but don't do anything taht would make them think that you are on to them.
  3. Call the police and let them handle it. I hope you make your neighbor's life a living hell. Egg her house! I hate identity theft! so many people's lives ruined! It sounds like you actually made it through without too much trauma. Seriously. Make her cough up the money with interest, and have her arrested. Press Charges so she will never be able to open new accounts again. Do not let anybody talk you out of pressing charges.
