Best product or insurance out there to protect against ID fraud.?
I know the personal step I can take to prevent ID theft but is there some anything out there? Software or credit alerts to protect myself. Not sure on how much more I can do to prevent theft.

- Most ID theft "insurance" is a rip off. However, some homeowners/contents policies now offer coverage as an option. (allstate, I think, has had ads for this). There are variety of notification services, however I suspect these may be rip off for the price as well. Check Consumers Union (www.consumersreport.com) for more info on this. I'm suprised how much dumb stuff costs $19.99 a month and offers nearly nothing.
- You could probably scare most potential ID thieves away by showing your picture, but on a serious note....you can visit lifelock.com and zanderinsurance.com and read a little more about a couple of different ID theft protection options.
- If you have renters or homeowners insurance with Allstate you can get ID theft protection added to your policy for like $40 I think...you might want to check into it.
