Which is better, LifeLock or LoudSiren?
I'm looking into some kind of identity theft insurance, which is better? Or do you recommend something else?

- I too have been researching these services. Three viable choices seem to be available in the market nationally: LifeLock, LoudSiren and TrustedId. LifeLock caught my eye with the CEO publishing his SSN on the side of a bus. That was impressive. I always research the credibility of any web site/business I want to do business with before I contact them. I have found, via several sources, LifeLock has a lot of bad history with it's co-founder Maynard being in trouble with the law and being banned from working in the credit industry. He has since resigned from the company BUT he's doing the same job he did before only he is working as a contractor to the company via his newly started marketing company. I'm really uneasy about LifeLock and it will take a lot of strong evidence for me to do business with them. That leaves, Trusted ID and LoudSiren. They appear to have a more credible background but both are new companies. I honestly forget which one is listed as the preferred product in a couple of states. My research into these two companies is not complete. I'm even researching insurance that I can buy on my own to cover any losses. Don't have any solid info to share on this right now. Know this, I'm not putting a dime into any company before I've done exhaustive research. Any company can put up a web site that claims to be a consumer review site but it is really a marketing tool for one of the companies. Lastly, for these services to work, you must give them the authority to act on your behalf - power of attorney. Basically you must give them the very identity you are trying to protect. You are really going to have to trust the company you choose. I suggest, if you aren't already doing so, do all the free stuff. Cross-cut shred your credit offers, file the "opt out" of credit card offers paperwork, get the free credit report, set fraud alerts (must do every 90 days), and just for fun, sign up for the national do not call list and get the telemarketers off your back too. Good luck.
