Rape defendant identity protection?
So much protection is put to hide the identity of a rape victim, and understandably so. But just the mere accusation, even if it doesn't go to court, of rape or sexual harassment could ruin a man's life. Should there be laws protecting a defendant's identity until they are proven guilty so as to avoid defamation?

- I think so. For example, those poor kids in the Duke lacrosse case were royally screwed. DNA testing proved them innocent, but they still had their names dragged through the mud. I don't think it would be too hard to have them tried as Jane or John Doe and then have the names released if they are found guilty. Sadly, there are plenty of girls out there who would cry rape and take something to court just to screw a guy over.
- Yes, I think that would be a good idea.
- Since we a society are unable to comprehend the idea of innocent until proven guilty, I believe that the government does need to step in here and protect us from ourselves. At a minimum there should be a publication ban on the names of those involved in any particular case until the case is resolved.
