ID Theft

What does every one think about the idea of the US "National ID" card that they plan to start implementing?

In 2008, all drivers licenses issued to those born after 1964 are supposed to be complient with a program enacted into law in 2005 and administered by the Department of Homeland Security called REAL ID. It is supposed to prevent terrorism and identity theft. I just wonder myself if the cost of this so called safety may end up being allowing tyranny in the US government to thrive. What does everyone else think about this program, cause it seems like a loss of freedom to me? I just looked on the Homeland Security site and they ARE for a FACT implementing these new licenses as of this year. It is in the final stage of happening in the United States now.

  1. It is the start of the North American Union and RFID chips in everything. Very scary stuff if you ask me.
  2. Im at this point petrified. I hadn't heard of this, but as soon as I post I'm going to go google it and see exactly what it's about. Thanks for the enlightenment!!!
  3. The threat of ID cards has been in the UK for a number of years now. They're also proposing a $200 charge for the things. After a few Government scandals regarding the loss of personal data already held for Social Security etc. the likelyhood of them being enacted are remote (we hope) as the two opposition parties are completely against them. As is usual though they'll probably bring them in through the back door, first with passports, then with driving licences. Sad thing is, ask any satellite or cable tv company about the difficulty of keeping ahead of the pirate card producers and there would have to be a regular ID card security update, no doubt chargeable, another nice little revenue earner. Even with updates, what technology can produce technology can duplicate so ultimately, apart from people control (the scary bit), ID cards as a weapon against terrorism are as much use as a chocolate tennis raquet.
  4. piece of shít......
  5. Sooner or later there is going to be an internal and violent conflict over what is slowly happening in the USA. My fellow citizens and I are able to compromise and respect authority when it is deserved, but we recognize tyranny when it raises its' ugly skull, and we'll take care of it!

  7. It is a lose of freedom but we already lost that when we got Social Security numbers anyways my problem is me and my husband are stationed over seas and well will be here for another 3 years so well after the program had been in affect so how the hell are we able to get from here to there and back with out problems cause I'm in lI'mbo im not part of any state right know. I have a ID but when you fly over seas they want my MID and my drivers ID and pas port so what the hell so we do. I think this is shit and they should focus on something better than this. Thanks for letting me rant every one have a great day
  8. We already have SS cards. What more do they need? If they want to make the SS card more tamper proof, thats fine by me. (add a picture and another security device) Not everyone drives, so what would be the point in beefing up the state drivers license? If everyone doesn't have one, how will that help prevent terrorism and illegal immigration? One thing about the National ID I really do not agree with the idea of making a card that has a radio transmitter in it. I think that starts invading in a persons privacy. I think America needs to be very wary of giving the Government too much power. The power of America should be with the people. If a card that can track a person is developed, that would take the power of the people and shift it to the government. Tread lightly America.
  9. Bad news. And the person droning on about SS cards is in the dark. The Real ID and later the Verichip will eliminate all privacy.http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/june2007/100607Verichip.htm
