IE7 Internet and McAfee problem?
I am a Comcast user and get the free McAfee software download. I run XP Pro. Recently I have been experiencing a internet browser problem were McAfee stops the browser from working. I have a network connection active but the browser, IE7 and Mozilla Firefox, will not get any internet pages. McAfee offers the Virus protection, firewall, identity protection and spam blocker. When I delete Mcafee then my browsers work fine. Also, I have discovered that if I just download the virus and firewall the internet worked until an update yesterday came out and when it downloaded then it stopped the browsers from working again. Deleted Mcaffee and activated Micrsoft/Nvidia firewall and it all worked fine. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions or ideas as to what is going on here?

- DUMP McAfee! AVG Free is the best anti-virus out there right now. Norton is total junk, uses up a lot of system resources and you have to pay for it. Avast is another free anti-virus, which is still good, but personally I like AVG. You can download AVG from the link below.
- hi, i'm a frustrated mcafee user too... i tried the trial, since msafee offers alot of protection features like anti-spam and identity theft protection, disable anti-span and identity theft protection. i bet these are messing with IE. use Microsoft Phishing filter instead which is built into IE7. its found in tools options advanced tab, enable it if u havent. and disable mcaftee anti spam and identity theft only (not anything else). hope this helps
- It seems to me that you should have by now figured out that the problem is McAfee, not IE7. Although a lot of people have problems with IE7, a lot of others don't seem to be bothered and go on their way using it. Apparently you are one of those. So, uninstall McAfee for good and either get AVG 7.5 or Avast. Both are free, both are far better than either McAfee or Norton. Use the built-in firewall in XP. If you use Outlook, get ELLA for Spam Control, it's free, also. You train it to know what is spam and what isn't. I've used it for over 3 years - wouldn't be without it. - Dump IE7. It has a lot of known issues and compatability problems. Get firefox instead at www.mozilla.org
