ID Theft

What if someone tries to falsely accuse me of ID theft?

Last year, my ex mother in law was living with me. To make a long story short she opened several accounts for me in her name, a couple with me as a 2nd card holder. Now she came this summer and we had a falling out. She has been known to be a very vindictive person. I have been told by a family member that is gouing to accuse me of identity theft. How can I find out if she is trying to do this to me and what course of action is available for me to protect myself if this is so. Thank you for any help you can give.

  1. Get a lawyer.
  2. First of all she hasn't accused you yet. Secondly--she opened the accounts and put your name on them--I hardly see where she can do much with ther name on them also. If you didn't do it--don't worry about it and consuly an attorney--most of them have free initial consultation.
