Im looking to open a bank account?

I am 16 and still in school, which bank would you recommend and will my national insurance card be enough proof of my identity?

  1. Depending on where you live and your specfic needs depends on where you should open an account. Bank of America, National City or U.S. Bank will probably be the best since they are national and they will give you the most access to your money, ie: ATM's. Your national insurance card will not be enough to open an account though. You will need some form of ID like a driver's license or state ID both of which you can get from your local license bureau. A school ID or a social security card might also be sufficient for a second form of ID.
  2. I use Washington Mutual Bank because they offer "free checking" with no fees when you use their free checking services. My advice is to look for a bank near your house that does not charge you whenever you use their services. Get your parents to help you open an account.
