- They will try to find out about you and what you are like as a person. They will be looking for a trustworthy, honest, reliable person who can interact with members of the public. They will not want to know what you do on a Friday night with your friends. They will be expecting you to sell yourself to them and try to convince them that you are the best person for the job. Good luck stay calm and relax and just be honest with your answers. They may ask you if you have any questions for them, you could ask about the members of staff and how they all work together as a team during the busy period leading up to Christmas
- 1 search the internet for any onformation you can get on the company and there product 2Firm Handshake 3 Eye contact ( if you look down or away you'll come across as unconfident or shifty) 4 don't fidget ( it come across as if you have something to hide)
- They want to know you. You sound young, and you probably think that this person interviewing you is someone big and special, how wrong you are! They are just someone's wife or husband, who goes to work every day just like everyone else. So don't go to try and somehow impress them. That is not the task. They will want to know that you have good social skills, as they don't want to put someone on a till that will sulk and have 4 nose rings and black lipstick. So be bright, warm, confident but not silly. Bottom line if you have put interests down on your CV and they ask you about them, be prepared to talk for a minute or so about your interest with lots of enthusiasm, rather than sit there, shrug and say "it's alright"
- They will be looking for examples of how you have shown yourself to be reliable, hardworking etc. If you have examples to talk about here, then think tonight of how best to get these across. They will probably be looking for personal skills, such as how you work with others, and if it's a customer facing job (rather than just stock room etc) how you deal with customers/public. In this respect they will also have an interest on how you look if you are going to be representing them to the public. The key things are to be honest and try to be yourself - if you try to fudge the truth you may find yourself coming unstuck, and it can often be very obvious in a interview. Overall try to stay calm, try to be confident, be honest, show enthusiasm for the role, look presentable and prepare answers and questions. Also remember that it's a chance for you to interview them - ask them questions about the role so that you know it's a job that you want. Bear in mind that they may well be feeling under pressure to recruit the right person/people and feeling nervous themselves!!! I wouldn't expect you to need to take proof of identity, certificates etc - but if you do take them (in a neat folder) it will probably create the impression of someone who is organised and prepared - and that can never be a bad thing!
