ID Theft

How much information do people need to steal your identity?

Is a name, address and phone number enough? Or do they need more sensitive data like national insurance number, passport number, bank details etc...?

  1. As far as I know, if they can get a hold of an old bill, that can sometimes be enough, happened to my brother-in-law.
  2. really they can take just the smallest thing about you do some research take your credit card and you are screwd over. That's why you need a credit card company that monitors your expenses so when you have your credit card being used place to place they turn off the service so that no one can use the card and charge you for it.
  3. It depends - a utility bill will be enough to get credit in your name but if they had NI number and bank details etc then you will be in serious trouble
  4. If i were you i would leave nothing to chance, nowadays. Try investing in a paper shredder, some even shred credit cards now.
  5. Identity thieves are getting more creative and more successful in taking minimal info like your name, address, and phone number and using it to find even more. All personal identification should be handled with care, but the extra sensitive things like SSN, national insurance number, passport info, driver's license, and bank details should be handled even more carefully. Like the previous answer noted, if somebody gets a copy of one of your bills they have a jump on starting to steal your identity
  6. stealing identitys is really hard for them because first they need your name, they need what you look like, and they need personal info which you need like credit card er mm numbers etc...they will also aim for what you like doing like your favorite site then they will make a site like theres and sell something which YOU want then it will ask for details they send you something rubbish they have your details they no how you are now! so now when they go to access things they put everything they got off you and the system thinks it is you. also an over way is them sensors you walk throw and it means something is wrong so you go back 2 the till and what that does is for people is it reads everything like credit card numbers everything about you and they steal everything but it is hard also i would never do any of this i only no this because it happend to my friend. hope this helped!
