Identity for a bank account and a N.I. number?
In recent weeks we have had mail from a bank, a food processing plant, and now the DWP, for a person who is obviously not British in origin. They have used our address to obtain a N.I. number and a car insurance policy. The police tell us that nothing illegal has happened. The bank (insurance) don't seem to care and the local job centre brushed it off. Would you be worried if this happened at your address? If so what would you do about it? Stormydyas, the post office do not want to know. The DWP do not want to know. Barclays bank do not want to know. Kerry foods do not seem to give a s***. All mail has been returned, with the exception of that received today. That is ready to be returned. Nothing illegal has taken place we are told. No crime has been committed. Anyone can use anyones address it seems.

- well no not really if police said that but i would write back or phone back who ever is sending these and say that person or n/i fing is not at this address and tell them about you have contacted police and go from there.
- next it will be dept collecters at ur door write 2 ur local newspaper c if they care then!!!
- you could try immigration, give them the persons name and details isn't it there job to investigate this type of thing. not sure what else you can do really, unless the person is genuine and just has a similar address. we get post for a flat down the road occasionally as it has a similar post code
- Just send all the paperwork back stating not known at this address, write a letter to equifax and experian notifying them you have no finantial conection to that person(s). Its a bit distressing I know but really dont worry too much this type of thing happens all day long. Again its just the fact our government is outta touch with reality................................
- I think you should re-direct the mail by posting in a post box and write on envelope 'not known at this address'.....or contact royal mail and ask them not to deliver mail to your adress for anyone but yourself You should also consider running a credit reference file on your property it costs £2 and avilable by writing to eqiunax and experian both addresses can be found on the net I think you should also return the letters you have already opened to their senders
- why don't you write to your local councillor! and news paper warning others to be on their guard.and quite right i would find it a bit fishy. i would take photo copies of what comes through your door and send them back along with a note explaining...and photo copy that too.theres one way of finding out if your address is being used..i signed up just a few days ago for a credit check with experian and it tells you everything, even addresses being used, you`ll catch them out that way if your addy is being used.it costs £5 ish to register it tells you from there, its a good site, and you can keep checking it from month to month. good luck
