Did the Titanic really sink or was it all part of an insurance scam?
Some people claim that there were 2 ships - one called the Titanic and the other called the Britannic. The Britannic was quite old and was nearing the end of it's life and so the Titanic was built to replace it. It is claimed that the identities of the two ships were switched and so the oldest ship (the one of least value) became the Titanic and the newer ship became the Britannic. So when the unsinkable Titanic sunk after hitting an iceberg (which some say might also have been rigged with explosives), a large sum of money was paid to the owners of the two ships to pay for it's loss. This effectively means they got a free ship out of the disaster of the Titanic. Because the two ships were identical, it would have been impossible for the public and the insurance companies to tell them apart. So, this conspiracy theory claims that it wasn't the Titanic that sunk but the Britannic instead. So what do you think? Do you believe in this conspiracy theory?

- It really sank.
- if it is true it sucks for all the people who died on it just for an insurance scam
- Oh, please!!!!
- Titanic:Hit an iceberg on April 14, 1912. Sank on April 15, 1912 Britannic:Served as hospital ship for less than a year. Sank because of a mine hit on November 21, 1916 THEY BOTH SANK! NO INSURANCE FRAUD! HMHS Britannic was the third Olympic-class ship of the White Star Line, sister ship of RMS Titanic and RMS Olympic. Although the White Star Line has always denied what they call a "legend"[1], most sources say that it was originally intended to be named Gigantic[2]. In the aftermath of the Titanic disaster, and the patriotic feelings in the United Kingdom on the verge of the First World War, its name was changed to Britannic. RMS Titanic was the second of a trio of superliners intended to dominate the transatlantic travel business.[1]Her older sister was RMS Olympic. After Titanic's sinking, her younger sister HMHS Britannic (originally RMS Gigantic) was built.

- That is so bogus. Why would they do that just to get a free ship out of it? So many people died men, women and children of all social classes. The company is on record of having gone bankrupt after the disaster. Also even if they got a free ship out of it who in the world in their right mind would go on another cruise right after that on another boat that was owned and built by the same people?! At that time there was no other ship of that size and capacity. I am sure that they had investigators back then on insurance claims just like they have now. So, I think what you heard was just a urban legend or rumor.

- I think it was true. The Titanic really did sink. Don't think I've ever heard this theory before either. It's a strange one I have to tell you.
- It's down in the Atlantic. Didn't you see the video of it?
- No, I don't. The Titanic really sunk. At that time there was no sign of such technology and science to be able to build such a ship nor there was any sing of such dirty games. If this was a matter of politics in the current century then I'd say you're on to something but Titanic? No. Besides unlike what you think there wouldn't be any benefit in it for them. think about the circumstances; just impossible.
- Being that the ship has been found on the ocean floor it is safe to say that it sank.
- The titanic might not have sunk?!? where did you hear that. of corse it sunk. thousands of people were kille 'cause of it!!!
- This is reatrded, Brittanic wasnt even built for 2 years after titanic sank.
