What offers better consumer protection-- a credit card or bank debit card?

  1. it depends on what sort of protection you want its nice to still be able to buy things sometimes when you have no money, but its something we need protection from too sometimes
  2. Debit cards carry the Visa or Mastercard logo, so they have great protection. However, think of it this way. Say you use your debit card online and someone steals the card #'s and wipes out your account. Not only is the money from your payday gone, but you'll more than likely have many overdraft fees and returned check fees. Also, think about if this happens on a Friday evening. Could you go until Monday morning w/ no money in your checking account? Now what if this had happened w/ a credit card? You'd still have money (checking account) and you'd only be liable for the first $50. (Most of the time)
  3. I would think a credit card since it isnt directly hooked up to your bank account. I have had some horrible experiences with using my debit card and they take out more than they should and they bounce my account. I would use credit card any day over debit card. Plus a lot of credit card offer points or dollars. Like I love Starbucks and have the Starbucks Duetto and they give me Starbucks dollars for every certain amount I spend. It's great!
  4. Credit cards... you do not get much of a protection with a debit card since it is almost like cash.
  5. Credit Card protection is a JOKE! What happens in most cases is that they charge you every month and then when you account is stolen, they send you a packet in the mail for you to fix it yourself! The best service that covers everything about you from: Credit Cards, Socail Security, Medical Insurance Board (MIB), and Character is the link below. This is will cover you!
  6. In the U.S. Credit cards has a little better consumer protection than a debit card.
