credit card payment protection plans?

I recently viewed my credit card bill and notice a charge for a payment protector plan, I had never requested. When I tried to cancel this plan, the rep went on and on about why I should take advantage of the plans benefit of having my payments frozen for 30 days before cancelling. I told her I was not interested, and to please cancel this from my acct. she was relentless. This payment protection plan is really of no use to anyone except the credit card co. They take this money from you every month, and if there is an incident where you can't pay, all they do is freeze the acct. They don't pay on it with the money they've been taking from you all those months. So when you are able to pay again, your balance is the same as you left it. Since I never asked for this service I am extremely pissed because the took $91 of my payment towards my principal away for quite some time. Does anybody have any idea of any action I can take against this credit card Co.
