- I like equifax.com's program.
- First, go to annualcreditreports.com. That is the official website set up by each of the bureaus so that you can get your free credit report once a year. Follow what it says re disputes. Re monitoring, I use Experian to monitor my credit. I am alerted whenever something is added to my credit report. I would use whichever bureau is most frequently used in your area.
- Unless you are actually looking for a major purchase in the next few months where your score and errors could hurt, you may not actually want to spend the money on that right now. You don't need to sign up or pay for anything to view your credit report. The government requires the 3 main companies to provide you 1 free per year. For this you go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com . When you get this report you can dispute anything that is incorrect. This does not cost any money to do. The Credit Reporting Company will then investigate and remove/correct the information if needed. You do have a chance to purchase your score at this time, but if you already know you have errors, this would be a waste of money. The score is only based on what is currently in your report. If it is invalid information your score will also be invalid. If they fix the negative information, they are only required to send you a new report but not a new score. Once you are sure you have your reports correct you then can look at your score. I personally like http://www.myfico.com This is the actual FICO Score that is generated and used by a majority of the lenders. They have a monitoring product that is $89.95 per year. You can also purchase them individually for $15.95 per report.
