British justice now a thing of the past - murderer of headteacher getting new home and identity?

So now it transpires that we, the British taxpayers, will be footing the bill for the killer of headteacher Phillip Lawrence? According to media reports, Learco Chindamo, the culprit, will be getting a new home, new identity, and intensive security protection costing up to ONE MILLION a year. And we'll be paying for it! Do you agree that British justice is a thing of the past? And that Chindamo should have been deported back to Italy? How is it that the judges in other countries manage to interpret the same Human Rights legislation in a more rational way than the lunatics in our British courts? I feel so, so sorry for the family of Phillip Lawrence.

  1. Hey, its about the same here, across the pond, in America. It seems the laws protect the criminals more than the victims. And just look at our difficulty in deporting millions of illegal aliens. Where is that British and American backbone? Oh yeah, its in the rich man's wallet.
  2. You can blame Labour for turning the Law into an ass !
  3. I haven't heard those media reports but I'll assume it's true. A similar thing happened with Maxine Carr - she was given a new identity and found a new place to live. The tabloid newspapers ranted on about the waste of taxpayers' money, without stopping to think why? Because those same tabloids would have made public her whereabouts and someone would have done her harm, likely murdered her. So actually, the taxpayer has to spend money protecting these people from the tabloids who rail against the spending of the money! Perhaps a little responsibility in Fleet Street wouldn't be a bad thing. However heinous the crimes of these people, we don't have the death penalty in UK, either officially or by lynch mob. Would you rather we didn't protect these people, condemned them to death by lynch mob, creating more murderers for the state to keep in prison? Spending money on these people sticks in the throat, but it's better than the alternative. LADYMOONLIGHT: I'm not playing "devil's advocate". I really don't believe that the lynch mob should rule. If we let the lynch mob rule, for every Carr and Chindamo they finish off, there'll be hundreds of lesser and probably innocent victims. Is that what you call justice? I genuinely believe we have a duty to protect people who are likely to be subjected to reprisal attacks. Perhaps keeping them in preventitive custody might be a better idea, but you cannot seriously advocate throwing people to the mob, even if we wouldn't mourn their loss.
  4. This doesn't surprise me one bit. New identities were dished out to the Bulgar killers, Maxine Carr and now Chindamo. As far I can see crime pays and until situations like these are taken seriously then I'm afraid there will be more children losing their lives to gun and knife crimes.
  5. yea i agree
  6. New McLabour isn't an A ss - an A ss has a brain - might be a small one, but at least it has one.
  7. He will get a better deal out of life than many law abiding citizens who struggle to keep a roof over their heads these days. Despite the fact that homeless families are often refused help from their local councils or left in B&Bs and homeless shelters, ex prisoners are often given homes and flats on their release - 3 paedophiles were given a three bedroomed house on the estate where my mum lives. It is full of families with children!!! Who ever said that crime doesn't pay? Mr_Sceptic - your attempts to constantly play devils advocate are just insulting on this topic. *Very few* people would care if any of these evil, heartless, twisted and sick pieces of scum were murdered by lynch mob!! Good riddance I say!!!
