Not a fraud alert, she says they are different. Anyone know what this is, and why I could'nt get the increase? I tried to call Experian, but I can't get a live person. Arrrg!
Anyone pay for credit card protection on their credit cards? Is it a good idea or unnecessary? I have credit protection on all my cards and I'm spending good money for it. But I'm betting that if I lost my job they would make me jump through hoops to get them to honor the protection while I was unemployed. Anybody out there experience this?
i have a question about the credit protection on my credit card? when i first got my credit card about 7 yrs ago i opted to take the credit protection that they all offer..you know the one where they charge like .07 per $100 (in case i ever lose my job or am unable to work)...well i cancelled my credit card(finacial reasons)..and i want to cancel the protection too. My question is if i cancel it will i lose whatever i have paid into it over the years or do u think that they would put whatever i have paid towards my balance?
Why use Credit Card Protection Insurance? When I get a new credit card, I'm usually dunned by salesmen on buying credit protection, free for 30 days, etc. What is the advantage and disadvantage of this? Isn't this already provided for in the credit card agreement?
What do credit protection plans cover on credit cards? ? In the event of job loss, do those plans allow a cardholder to suspend payments without adverse effect to credit rating? Or are credit protection plans essentially life insurance benefits for a creditor, in the event of the cardholder's death?
Address of Bank of America Credit Protection? I have been requesting that Bank of America cancel the Credit Protection Plan on my account for over 1 year to no avail. Deos credit card protection sleeve work against identity theft? I learnt from a fellow cruise passenger in europe that her protection sleeve (an envelope for credit card) would prevent against a thief from scanning her credit card and getting her credit card information when the thief walks close to her purse. Does this sleeve work or it is just a gimmick?
What is a credit card protection fee? I have Chase Amazon Rewards credit card. I’ve always wondered this, though it never bothered me because I almost always pay off my credit card balance before the statement period. If I don’t, Chase adds a credit/ payment protection fee. The fee depends on how big my balance is. A few days ago, when my monthly statement was issued, I had a balance of $12.61. Along with that was a $0.11 protection fee. However, I paid it off that same day and now I see that the fee was reversed. I now have a $0.11 credit. What is this protection fee?
Do I need a credit card protection plan? I am currently very good at paying my credit cards and i am not sure if this insurance is worth it or not. I am currently paying .82 cents per one hundred dollars for one of my current protection plans. And about $5 a month for another credit card protection plans. Is this insurance a waste of money? Or is this something that is beneficial in the long run?
What is overdraft protection using my credit card? My bank has online banking and has the option to add overdraft protection using my credit card. You have to request it on the online banking website. They ask you to choose the credit card you have and than click on which account you will be using? Why would they ask me to choose the checking account I will be using for my credit card overdraft protection, when my credit card is completely different my checking account? If I overdraft my credit card, do they automatically take money from my checking account to pay the fee or something? I don't understand quite how overdraft protection works on credit cards as opposed to a checking account.
How do I cancel over limit protection on my credit cards? This is really a two-part question. How do I cancel the over limit protection on my credit cards and will this stop the card from going over the limit(just be "declined"? I am trying to cut down on the "over limit" fees. Seems I saw this suggestion on a news broadcast about cutting out these fees.
Do credit cards offer extra protection for items purchased? I bought my brother a laptop 2 days ago and 14 hours after having it, he was ripped off at a library with it (snatched right in front of him and the kid booked). We were told to call the credit card to see if there's a protection program that might cover the theft. I purchased it with Discover and they said they don't offer that sort of protection. If I were to buy another one with a Visa or Mastercard, would that make ANY difference?
credit protection agency? Does anyone know of a legit credit protection program that gives you monitoring and score of all three bureaus for about $10 a month? And I don't mean an estimate like the PLUS score on freecreditreport.com I have strongly considered LifeLock, but right now they are not offering the credit score to their customers and that's crucial to me.
How do I put a block on my credit? Who do I need to contact so that everytime my credit is pulled up or used, that I would be informed before any credit is applied. Kinda like a credit protection program or something.
Is credit card protection insurance really necessary? I'm talking about the insurance you pay extra for on your credit cards so they would supposedly be paid off for you in the event of your death. I have a friend whose 75 yr. old mother is dying very soon of terminal cancer. I'm wondering if he just sent in the death certificate to the credit company, would this be enough to get them off his back. She has no other family except for his son, and he can't afford to pay her left over bills. His name's not on her credit card accounts.
Password protection for credit cards? Why does credit cards are not password protected during swiping at the merchandise. Debit cards do need password. Why can't the same be done for credit card and minimize its fraud usage to a great extent .
"credit protection fee" on credit card bill? Is it a must to have a "credit protection fee" when you have a credit card? Is it pro-rated to how much your balance is? I am not talking about overdraft protection, this is something else. If anyone out there can enlighten me on this matter, would appreciate it.
Does anyone have experience of how much protection you have from a credit card when booking a package holiday? Obviously the cost needs to be over £100 (and less than £30K!!)...the consumer credit act gives information about purchases, but when it comes to holidays, things are less easy to understand. Most tour operators I'm looking at say that your credit card insurance is usually 'not sufficient' - I'm inclined to think this is so they can sell you their insurance, but are they referring to the statutory protection on your card or additional insurance? Also, if anyone could offer information on common pitfalls with holiday insurance, and catch-you-out exclusions, nasty surprises, etc, I would be much obliged! This is a for a winter sun soliday with no sports or business purpose. Thanks!
Best company for credit protection? I've known some companies that protect your credit, meaning that no one can access your credit score or file without you are allowing them to. Does anyone knows which one is the best company?. And if they do, what its the average montly cost for this? Thank you!

Credit protection plan? Apparently my credit card company (MBNA) has been charging me for a credit protection plan for at least a year now. I was planning to cancel the card, which I've paid off - but apparently I've already paid at least a thousand into the protection plan. I didn't know about that, and certainly didn't agree to it - can I get that money back? They aren't open until Monday, and I'm worried now.
Chase credit card protection? I had a couple of unknown and unauthorized charges to my credit card company from chase. I was really concerned so I told them about it and they immediately issued me a credit/refund on those unauthorized transactions. I am curious about a couple of things. Is there a limit to how many credits Chase can give you if you should ever have unauthorized charges again? In other words how many times will they protect you before they say NO MORE? Also how many unauthorized charges will it take for Chase to automatically cancel your card? I mean can they just cancel your card without your permission or do they need your permission to shut it out first? thank you!
credit protection....? there is a commercial on tv for this certain type of credit protection. The main guy in the commercial puts his social security # on the side of the truck because he is that confident that it works. Does anyone know what this is called?
I sell on E-Bay and have had a chargeback on a credit card and they froze my account! No seller protection? I sell reel to reel recorders on E-Bay and had a credit card chargeback and they froze my account for the amount of sale! the item was damaged in shipping and even tho it was insured, the buyer without contacting me gave me a negative feedback and filed a chargeback! I notified Pay-Pal and E-Bay on the situation! Now there is a waiting game for 30 to 60 days while your money is tied up and the credit card company always wins! The person also sent unit back to me without letting me know he was doing so! Now I am stuck with a damaged unit that left my shop in perfect condition and out $300.00 on top of it! So where is the seller protection that they promise? I can be contacted thru E-Bay under REEL TECHNOLOGIES look for my auctions if anybody would like to communicate! The negative feedback was unjust and people look at that when they buy from you it can really damage your reputation and sales! The attorney general will not do anything to a multi-million dollar company like E-Bay for a $500.00 issue!
Credit protection plan. Is it worth it? ? My husband and I disagree on this. He pays monthly on his credit card for their protection plan. He wants it because in the instance he loses his job, he is protected. I think it's a waste of money. Every month I am shocked at how much they charge for it. Last month it was $101. How are we supposed to pay off the balance with these charges?
I have a retail business and have had a customer use fruadulent credit. what protection do I have to not lose. The customer used many different cards. I suspected him of fraud and informed the bank. They told me not to worry. Now they have come back to me a week later and after more transactions and said it was fraud and they want the money off me. It seems unfair that I should lose up to 30,000 pounds when I told them my suspicions and they told me not to worry. I would like to know how I can prevent the bank from taking all the money off me. The ttransactions were done mainly by phone.
What protection do business owners have if a customer tried to reverse charges on there credit card? IE...Product was damaged in shipping by hired freight company...customer signed and accepted items as damaged and now wants all monies back a week later. I'm assuming since it was signed for and accepted at time of delivery, the customers credit card company would not let them reverse charges? Am I right? jennifer, yes and the policy is clearly stated, if freight is damaged in shipping the customer has to file a claim with shipper.
Where exactly can you check your credit score for FREE? All of the ligitimate sources I have looked at have a sign up scam running. You must sign up for credit protection plans or the like before you can get your free score. You must give them your credit card number for your free trial that by the way is difficult to get "unsubscribed" to. I thought the law said you could get a free credit score yearly. Where do I do this?
What type of consumer protection should the government have in place concerning credit cards? It seems to me like the interest rates that they charge are absolutely unbelievable. Especially when they slip it past someone on page 28 of their "rights" package. However, I wonder about the public's lack of financial education and how much responsibilty a person has to take for their own actions. I'm taking an economics course now and it seems like, when reading the basics of capitalism, that a lot of it really seems to depend on consumer's being rather, frankly, dumb. Does the Government have a place in "protecting" people, or is this really an example of "buyer beware"?

Bank of America "credit protection plan" added without my knowledge...How can I get my money back???? So I enrolled in a gold option credit line in April of '07. Well the rep added a "credit protection plan" without my knowledge or approval. I didn't understand what that was for quite some time so I called in about a month ago to ask as the total money I paid to it was close to $800.00, for nothing. They said that they added it and had "verbal" agreement from me to do so but with no actual proof. Apparently they sent a letter at some point saying they took the liberty of adding this and if I want it cancelled to call immediatly. I never saw this. So I want to fight this and get that money back. How can I go about doing this without spending lots of money and making it a mute point. This is wrong that they can get this much money from me without me even asking for it. I have paid off the loan in full as soon as I saw that this was happening. BOA (corporate not local) is terrible and has horrible customer service. I would strongly discourage anyone from using them from now on.
Anyone hear of a Preferred Savings Network, supposedly an identity protection firm for credit cards? I just received a call from someone asking me for an expiration date on my credit card and he was willing to wait as long as it took for me to get this info from my credit card and it didn't matter which card it was. I just left the phone off the hook and then eventually he hung up but then called right back. When I refused to give him the info he said i would regret it!!! This company is supposedly located in Scottsdale AZ.
when does a collecton agency report to a credit bureau? Got a paper from Credit Protection Association asking to pay blockbuster $10. I was never aware of this balance and paid it right away. will this be reported to the credit bureau? When do collection agencies report debts?

Does my home insurance or credit card protection protect against loss as well as theft? I purchased an engagement ring through the internet. It was in the Fedex box one day on my table and then all of a sudden it wasn't. I just don't know whether someone slipped in and took it (the table is close to the front door which sometimes we leave open - doh), or whether someone here just threw the box away without realising that there was something in it (of course everyone in the house swears they didn't). My home insurance (same with the retail protection on my credit card) covers theft but it doesn't make mention of loss. It's not in the coverage section, but it's not in the exclusion section either. Can anyone advise me on how to approach this, seeing as I just don't know whether it was lost or stolen? Thanks a lot for the answers so far! Do you think I could get a police report at this stage (I only realized it was missing yesterday), or will they just laugh at me?
credit card payment protection plans? I recently viewed my credit card bill and notice a charge for a payment protector plan, I had never requested. When I tried to cancel this plan, the rep went on and on about why I should take advantage of the plans benefit of having my payments frozen for 30 days before cancelling. I told her I was not interested, and to please cancel this from my acct. she was relentless. This payment protection plan is really of no use to anyone except the credit card co. They take this money from you every month, and if there is an incident where you can't pay, all they do is freeze the acct. They don't pay on it with the money they've been taking from you all those months. So when you are able to pay again, your balance is the same as you left it. Since I never asked for this service I am extremely pissed because the took $91 of my payment towards my principal away for quite some time. Does anybody have any idea of any action I can take against this credit card Co.
Anyone experienced Credit Card Protection Scam? Two years ago I was looking over paid CC bills, and had $365 charged to my CC overtime, from a protection insurance company that I had NOT signed up for. I called & they assured my they wouldn't have charged me without my voice concent, or a signed document. In the end they had NO proof I signed up for it. I was refunded. Recently it has happened again. A different Protection Plan that I have NOT signed up for. They have, what I consider, stolen, almost $250 dollars from me. I have contacted them only to be told they wouldn't charge me unless they had a signed document. Well, long story short, they can't show me proof...they will actually hang up on me when I ask for a supervisor... My CC company says they can't get involved in the dispute. What do I do???? Does this happen a lot? I have even considered getting an Atty. In the future I will pay closer attention...but that won't help me now.
"Protection Payment Plans", how do you for credit card companies to stand by the agreement???? I personally believe this is just another scam from credit card companies to get money!!! When you try to use their "Payment Protection Plans", all of sudden their rules change!!! So, how do you get these people to honnor that agreement????? Yeah, tell me about it. My fiancee had double surgery last year, so he was off of work for a month. Now the lovely Discover Card, says that hospital stays doesn't count. Liars. Just a legal form of the MOB.
